Project Calulo

As illiteracy in Angola is very high, Salesian sisters work on the alphabetization of the people who live in villages, and inform villagers on how to avoid different diseases.  The teachers of this project receive instructions on health precautions (hygiene, waste disposal, food utilization, etc.) and encourage attendants to use health precautions at their homes.

Teachers gather six times a year for course seminars which are held in the mission centre in Calulo. In these seminars teachers increase their knowledge of individual tutoring and share their own experiences. The project takes part in 13 villages.

Because the villages do not have any schools, the lessons are being held in the chapel of the village or outdoors.

Our support

Payment of the salary of the teachers. Costs per teacher per month: up to € 100.
